Cheerleading

There's something you all should know about me. I'm a cheerleader. When you first meet me you probably would never guess that, I usually get basketball player. I would like to start off by saying to all cheerleaders are the same. I'm a die-hard cheerleader, but you'd probably never be able to tell. Cheerleader Karee is totally different from everyday Karee. I once had a boyfriend, who when we met, seriously thought I had a twin sister because everyday Karee is so much different from Cheerleader Karee.

This past weekend I had cheerleading tryouts a Drexel University. They were pretty fine and dandy. During my interview the coach asked me if I would be able to make summer practices, but didn't really say whether I made the team or not. I'm not a rocket scientist or anything, but if someone asks you if you can attend a practice, that generally means your on the team. Right? Well the coach call today to give me her final verdict, unfortunately I was at my senior sports banquet. I'm going to call her back tomorrow though, and I will keep you posted.

Tattoo

I'll be 18 in less than a month now, and what better way is there to celebrate than with piercings and tattoos. So, I did a random google search of things that I find interesting, and came across peacock feathers. I think I want my first tattoo to be a bracelet with feathers that dangle down onto my palm. I post some sketches up later.

School Blues

The FAFSA does not provide insight on how much financial aid you need. All the government cares about is how much money you make and how much taxes you pay. They do not take into consideration, whether you pay a mortgage, just finished putting another child through school, or have had unexpected unusual expenses. They just assume that everybody lives on section 8, has one child, and are fully able. It is not fair that the government is designed to only provide help to low-class families, and leaves middle-class struggling to make ends meet. The FAFSA is not the only way they're doing it either. Students who recieve free or reudced lunch in Maryland public schools are able to take Advanced Placement tests for free, while students who pay full price must pay around $85 to take these test. What the government fails to realize is that 90% of students that qualify for free or reduced lunch are not enrolled in AP classes, and/or do not have plans to further their education after high school.

Okay so, I'm a senior in high school, and I have less than a month left because I have part-time attendance. My plan is to attend Drexel University Fall '09 as a Design and Merchandising major, but my financial aid award is bull shit. They are only offering me $13,500, which leaves me stuck with $39,416+ a year. Thats some shit. By the time I'd finish school I'd be $157,664+ in debt. If I was to make the cheerleading team, which I have tryouts for next week, they'd offer me $1,000+ in scholarships. Maybe if my family was to file for bankrupcy and move to a shelter my parents could use their year and almost a half salary to pay for my four years of school. But in all reality, I doubt that will happen. I'll probably end up at Baltimore City Community College with a poor ass Associate's degree, and resort to being a manger at a local retail store because no real label would hire me with an bum ass associate's degree in the fashion field from a random as school.
